At Vesta, Steuben’s, and Ace Eat Serve, the importance of contributing to our community is not only recognized, it is embraced. Since 1997,
the restaurant group has made contributions to hundreds of events and organizations, earning National Philanthropy Day recognition
for ‘Outstanding Small Business’ as well as the Colorado Restaurant Association’s ‘Outstanding Professional’ and ‘Restaurant Neighbor’
awards. In addition, the restaurants have developed ongoing relationships with several groups committed to improving the lives of our
youth. Examples of these relationships are the restaurant’s long-standing projects with Urban Peak and the Denver Housing Authority.
Using very different approaches, Urban Peak and DHA help provide Denver youth with safe, warm homes and opportunities to lead healthier,
more productive lives. Our newest relationships promote giving back to the Arvada community, and providing literacy support through
Wings & Whiskey is Ace Eat Serve’s annual summer bash benefitting DHA’s Youth Culinary Academy. Each year, an established list of top local chefs compete for the title of wing king or queen with live music and a wing-eating contest rounding out the day. In it’s first year, Ace raised $10,000 for the Youth Culinary Academy and has raised about $10,000 a year since its inception.
In 2017, Steuben’s Uptown joined forces with Book Trust, a Denver literacy non-profit that provides the books & literacy support for at-risk kids to become successful readers & leaders. Through a combination of guest’s ‘rounding up’ their credit card payments an annual donation match by Steuben’s, over $11,000 was raised in it’s premier year. Steuben’s Uptown also plays home to an annual, costume-themed toy drive, one of Secret Sauce’s most anticipated events of the year in which we provide holiday gifts for children in DHA housing.
Steuben's Arvada’s weekly ‘Dineback Tuesday’ is the group’s newest initiative. On participating Tuesday evenings, the restaurant donates 15% of sales to various schools and non-profit organizations in the community, an effort that has raised over $45,000 in it’s first year.
Vesta began working with Urban Peak more than a decade ago and has raised over $300,000 for the organization at their annual Plates for the Peak dinner parties. It is this work with Urban Peak that earned owners Josh and Jen Wolkon ‘Business Honoree’ recognition at Urban Peak's 2014 Maverick Thinkers Gala, the organization’s highest yielding fundraiser of the year. But, the Wolkon’s could not have achieved all of this alone. The staff at each restaurant has embraced the company's mission to give back to the community by donating their own time, talents, and even tips to make these events successful. They remain committed to creating fun and unique in-house events that are often affordable for their peers and a younger generation of philanthropists, opening their eyes to how rewarding and easy it is to give back.
